Few month ago in Lausanne, Switzerland, executive board of International
World Games Association-IWGA has decided with one asset that Beach handball will
be full part of World games.
On the last three World games Beach handball in Akita-Japan
2001, Duisburg-Germany 2005 and Kaohsiung-Taiwan 2009 Beach handball was participating
as a calling sport. The thing is that in country where
handball isn’t popular, like Taiwan, all the tickets for Beach handball events were
sold out. That was one huge plus for the committee to add Beach handball as full
participant.
With this decision Beach handball came shoulder to shoulder
with sports like karate, rugby, squash.. All of these sports are very popular in
some countries but still haven’t made it to status of Olimpic sport.
Next World games will be held in Cali, Columbia 2013.
