The final tournament of the best beach handball teams of the Old Continent was officially assigned, for the first time in the history of this competition, to Croatia. Thus, the town of Umag, which has been previously prove its organisational capabilities,will organize again another top level beach handball event- this time only at the club level.
8 best European teams in men and women category will compete for the title.
The competition will be held from 01-02.06.2013. With this event, Umag will become the first city to organize all European competitions at the highest level. Before that, Nagyatad organized the European youth beach handball championships and the EBT Masters, but it didn’t organize European senior championships. This is, of course rarity and the proof that local organizers, together with the main organizer, Croatian handball federation, were recognized as serious event organizers. Croatia will be presented by 4 teams in Umag. Hence- BHC Detono Zagreb and BHC Sokol will have the teams in both categories. Given that the organizer has the right to call another team in each competition (wild card), maybe even more Croatian teams will be called. The competition is organized by the Croatian Handball Federation, and, according to the experience in the organization of large beach handball events, this is definitely a good step for the beach handball development.
