“Host team upset by bad calls”

Below you may find a brief overview of the games that were played on Sunday. Also, in the early stage of competition we noticed first complaints on bad calls. Indonesian beach handball selection accused referees that they had intention to judge unfairly. The text below was transmitted from the Jakarta post newspaper.

We received many bad calls from the referees, who might have assumed we did not understand the rules of the game,” assistant coach Sujarwo told reporters after is side’s 2-0 (18-10, 19-14) loss.

We are all new to beach handball. But they were acting as if they knew everything and failed to uphold fairness.

Sujarwo said other teams, such as Qatar and Thailand, had expressed the same concern over the quality of refereeing.

Throughout the game, which was played at Mertasari Beach in Sanur, coach Mustafa Mashyur called out in protest against the referees. He was reprimanded for this.

We lodged protests so that such things would not happen to other teams in the future,” Mustafa said.

Mustafa said that after being defeated in the first set, his team fought harder in the second set to display better physical endurance than the Kuwaitis. But the advantage could not spare the Indonesians from defeat.

They (Kuwait) looked overwhelmed by the searing heat entering the second set,” Mustafa said.

Indonesia needs a win over Pakistan, which beat Jordan 2- 0 (14-9, 23-14) Sunday, in the next group match on Monday to keep its hopes of winning a medal alive.

Kuwait’s coach Baseem Elsobky attributed his team’s victory to its better technique and power.

However, Indonesia is a good team. They are good in technique and are very fast,” he added.

We hope that good games will substitute further complaints, so we could enjoy the beach handball.
Regarding to other games- 6 games were played, whereof 3 games in both category.
